During the time when Pete was teaching the Salish Sea Stone project to the children on Penelakut Island, word spread to another First Nation’s school, and he was invited to teach the stone art to two classes of senior elementary students at ȽÁU,WELṈEW̱ Tribal School in Brentwood Bay. This school encompasses 4 individual local Saanich Peninsula First Nations students. (Pauquachin, Tsartlip, Tsawout, and Tseycum Nations)
This project mirrors the development of creating the unique stone artwork presently conducted at the school on Penelakut Island. The ȽÁU,WELṈEW̱ school’s principal, has recently made a request that Pete plan ahead to teach additional art classes at their high-school and adult education school. Pete has also established the support of considerable retail outlets who sell the children’s art stones in the nearby towns of Saanich and Sidney.
A small portion of the funds raised from the sale of the stone art at this school is also shared with the City of Victoria’s “Women's Transition House Society”
